Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who was sent to jail for 5 years has been admitted to hospital after having loss a lot of weight and deteriorating health in prison.

PKR’s Datuk Johari Abdul and Anwar’s daughter Nurul Nuha have called on Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, the Home Minister to allow Anwar to stay in hospital as long as it is required.

It has been reported that Anwar has lost up to 6kg in recent months at the Sungai Buloh Prison and the hospital there has not been able to explain why his health has been deteriorating.

It seems that initially, there has been a delay which saw him being hospitalized only on June 2. This has caused further deterioration of his health. Among other reports, it was said that there was ‘presence of blood in his stool’ and his shoulder injury needs medical attention as soon as possible.

While no one is asking for special treatments for Anwar, there should be attention given for him given his age and medical attention.

Perhaps it is just how it is for him. While the debate goes on about the entire Sodomy II fiasco, this will surely bring about more allegations and accusations. Those in power has been given a lot of stick over this issue. There is a way to make things better and that is to give Anwar the fundamental right even as a prisoner that includes proper conditions in terms of food, shelter and medication.

Maybe someone should be blamed for this, but who?
