The Hari Raya holidays came and went. Perhaps the biggest news was about the suspension of The Edge which drew a lot of criticisms from those in the media industry.
According to The Minister of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government The Edge Weekly and The Edge Financial Daily were suspended as there was a real ‘possibility’ that they published inaccurate reports concerning the 1MDB fiasco. Rahman Dahlan is the strategic communications director for Barisan Nasional as well.
Well, that’s how things are, after blocking out Sarawak Report, The Edge was the next in line for action.
All of these happened because of the 1MDB issue.
Depends on which side of the fence you sit on, you will find that any actions carried out will be fully justifiable. This is because while there has been a lot of criticisms hurled against Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, many quarters are showing their support as well.
But deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muyhiddin Yassin has come out to say that he found himself reading The Edge to understand better what was going on with 1MDB since people are claiming that the reports on the financial portal were inaccurate.
As the deputy prime minister, he should be closest to the prime minister and be in the-know about the whole 1MDB fiasco. But even he himself is unsure.
In his latest statement, Muhyiddin said that should the General Election be held today, BN will not win. That did not augur well with the pro-Umno bloggers who had since told him to resign if he cannot be a ‘loyal deputy’.
