DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang has demanded to know if Putrajaya is still funding the activities carried out by Malay rights group Perkasa.
He wants to know if there has been any directive issued by the government to stop the funding after Perkasa made the startling revelation that it has received funding from several government agencies in the past for its events and activities. Kit Siang said that Malaysians should be informed if the funding has stopped as many are concerned over the divisive nature and agenda that Perkasa promotes. Syed Hassan Syed Ali, the secretary-general of Perkasa had admitted last month that the movement received funds from the likes of BTN (National Civic Bureau), MKN (National Security Council) and JASA (Special Affairs Department). The revelation did not go well with many quarters as it was in a direct conflict with the 1Malaysia concept as mooted by the prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his administration.
