The prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor are suing Taiping MP Nga Kor Ming for defmation.
This makes Nga the latest politician from the opposition who is slapped with such a suit from the PM. Datuk Mohd Hafarizam Harun, the lawyer representing Najib and Rosmah quoted that a copy of the claim was filed and sent to Nga over a posting in the latter’s Facebook page entitled ‘Siapa PM M’sia yang Sebenar? Jawab!”. This post has since been circulated in social media which prompted Najib and Rosmah to send a letter of demand because it was ‘defamatory’ and ‘slanderous’.
Besides that, 7 other demands were issued including asking for a written apology and retraction of the statement as well as desisting from making similar statements of this nature.
In the post, Nga claimed that Najib was dominated by Rosmah and not competent to be the prime minister because his wife intervened at meetings with ministers.
It was recorded that the statement had 3,697 Likes and 2,366 shared the status.
Besides Nga, Najib and Rosmah sued PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli in April as well as Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua for defamation
While suing someone for defaming you is normal, one should ask the timing of such things. It seems that there are more important issues that need to be addressed instead of going around looking at what your rivals are saying in social media and start suing anything you do not like to be said about you.
