Malay rights group Perkasa has called the newly-formed NUCC (National Unity Consultative Council) a threat to unity.

Syed Hassan Syed Ali, the secretary-general of Perkasa hit out at NUCC in light of its first meeting said that NUCC had questioned the Malay rulers and was provoking Muslim anger when it questioned the raid by JAIS (Selangor Islamic Department) at the Bible Society of Malaysia last week. He said that there were doubts to the NUCC’s credibility because it looks as if it was more interested in fighting for the rights of the minority and not the majority, referring to the Malays. NUCC had called on Putrajaya to abide by the 10-point solution which was blatantly disregarded by JAIS when it raided BSM and confiscated 300 Bahasa Malaysia and 10 Iban-language bibles.
