So far, less than 3 ministers have spoken up against Datuk Ibrahim Ali, the president of Malay rights wing group Perkasa despite the ‘sensational’ statements he has made. May we know why?
In a country like Malaysia where the political scene is more like a reality television show than dealing with ‘real’ issues, it seems that there is only a handful who dared stand up for what they believe.
Hats off to Tan Sri Joseph Kurup, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department who dared stand up against the bully-politician Ibrahim Ali.
In the latest round, Perkasa has sued Kurup for allegations of extremism.
Kurup is in charge of national unity and integration portfolio.
Ibrahim Ali is of course, the jumping politician who came from BN and then jumped to the opposition and then back to BN and then became independent (but BN-Friendly) and then lost in the elections.
Outspoken and often controversial, he believes that being previously detained through ISA makes him somewhat immortal.
So far, not many from the ruling party dared to speak up against Ibrahim and seriously, there were perhaps 2 or 3 only.
Even the prime minister has not commented on Ibrahim Ali’s statements.
Kurup said that he is not afraid of Ibrahim Ali and will meet in court.
For that, Malaysians will salute you.
Because there are so many cowards who seemed to give Ibrahim Ali a freehand to say anything and do anything, Joseph Kurup stands his foot down.
Kudos Mr Minister. If only we have more leaders like you!!
