A group of 9 pro-Umno Muslim NGOs have slammed the newly formed NUCC (National Unity Consultative Council) for censuring JAIS (Selangor Islamic Religious Department) over the seizer of Bibles issue.

Datuk Zulkifli Noordin, the deputy president of Perkasa spoke on behalf of the coalition said that JAIS had acted according to the law and the disapproval by NUCC was a ‘transgression of natural justice’. He said that JAIS should have been allowed to explain its action to the NUCC. In justifying the seizure, he said that it so happened that the publications were Bibles when JAIS seized the publications that contravened with Section 9 of the Selangor’s Non-Islamic Religions (Control of Propagation Among Muslims) Enactment 1988. He added that there was no breaching of the 10-point solution because it did not cover the word Allah and as such, JAIS had every right to carry out the action.
