KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10 — Bersih 2.0 today challenged Datuk Seri Najib Razak to come clean on his finances and 1Malaysia Development Bhd, after announcing that the polls reform group will publicise its financial details this month.
Bersih 2.0 chair Maria Chin Abdullah said she was misquoted the media and never intended to be secretive about the group’s funds, after the prime minister accused the group of adopting double standards over its own transparency yesterday.
“We will present it in September and then have it audited as soon as possible. The audit will take a bit longer. But it will be mainly for the Bersih 4 rally,” Chin told reporters, referring to Bersih 2.0’s funds.
“Another six months is unacceptable. Because this has happened a long time ago. This is unacceptable to anybody, it is your personal account, you can show [sic] easily,” she added, referring to Najib’s plea to be given six months to resolve the 1MDB’s debts.
